Dullstroom Bird of Prey photo morning

Attended a photo morning at Dullstroom Bird of Prey centre ( Dullstroom Bird of Prey Facebook Page ) just outside Dullstroom. This centre does amazing work rehabilitating, releasing  birds of prey and educating the public about birds of prey. In addition to their normal shows a special photo session can be organized where they will fly birds specially for photographers.

All the birds in the photographs below cannot be released due to imprinting on humans or injury and are used as part of their shows to educate the public.

Stars of Sandstone 2014 – Day 1

A selection of photos from day 1 of the Stars of Sandstone 2014 event held at Sandstone Estates 2 foot narrow gauge line near Ficksburg in the eastern Free State. Locomotives featured are Avonside 1624 on her first outing of restoration from a pile of pieces rescued from the now defunct SANRASM museum, the restoration was carried out by Lukas Nel and his steam team at the Sandstone workshops in Bloemfontein. Also featured is Sezela No. 3 and NG\G 16 Garratts 153 and 88

Centurion Society Model Engineers Mini-meet 2013

Action from the Centurion Society of Model Engineers mini-meet September 2013. Unfortunately a cold front brought overcast weather and wintry conditions on the 22nd, so much for spring. Normally the track at Centurion is green but the long dry highveld winter has taken it’s toll with low water in the ponds.
