Some photographs from Reefsteamers open day on the 27th July 2013 featuring locomotives 12AR 1535, 15F 3046 and Sandstone Heritage Trust GMAM 4079 in steam. Highlight of the day was strongman Ettienne pulling 25NC 3472. I spent most of the day leading tours in our workshops so the photo chances were limited.
A selection of photographs from Reefsteamers annual winter photo shoot that I organized at Reefsteamers depot in Germiston. Featuring 12AR 1535 and 15F 3046, 3046 passed her steam test on the Friday before so she is now certified for another three years of service.
Visited the section between Heidelberg and Greylingstad, the morning started off very misty but otherwise a good morning. Of interest was the pair of 43 class diesels on a load of coal containers, from research on the internet I believe these loads go to the Tutuka power station near Standerton, there is a 34 km branch from Standerton to the power station so hopefully will be able to visit in the future. Also got some 10Es at the Balfour tunnel, makes a bit of a change from the usual 18Es used on the Natal mainline.
