Container Train – 5 March 2016

34-421 & 34-408 & 34-109 Seen on a container train between Magliesburg and Koster on the Krugersdorp Mafikeng line. 421 still sports slightly tatty South African Railways livery after all this time.

Kroonstad Line – Morning 01 March 2014

First time I have seen 34 class diesels on the line and not sure why they were hauling to dead 6E1s. Very cloudy morning with both passenger trains running around 3 hours late the light was not that great. Around midday it clouded over and started raining and still raining on Monday. We are having a very wet and overcast summer on the highveld so photo opportunities have been limited.

Class 34 diesels on Mafikeng line

Five class 34 (U26C) headed by 34-121 in original SAR livery with a load of coal from Botswana taken between Swartruggens and Battery on the Mafikeng line. I saw in the rail news that this is new traffic for the line.
